As you can see, the storm that moved through on August 26, 2002, took out the Hickory tree in the southwest corner of the cemetery.

The large oak tree also lost a couple of limbs, ones we will have to get down out of the tree. The flag also was destroyed.
Wednesday, September 18 was our scheduled monthly cleanup day. Frank cuts some of the large branches after he used his Jeep pull them down from where they had lodged. He also had his tall ladder and replaced the flag with our new one. We still have to work on cutting the Hickory tree up. Wayne, Dale, Charlotte and Kevin were there to help as well, guess it was just Franks' day to have his photo taken!

October 16
Marvin brought his mower out and mowed the whole cemetery, while Frank, Wayne (not pictured) and Joe used their chain saws to work on cutting the hickory tree.
Dale, Kevin (the shadow taking the pictures) and Frank H. worked on hauling branches.
Tim also assisted in the branch hauling, even though he is not a CARHA member. Thanks!
Frank and Joe dropped the rest of the tree and Frank split one chunk for fire wood. Tim and Kevin plan to work on the rest of the tree and turn it into fire wood.
(L) Members mow each month, as needed. We also have to replace the First National flag about once a year. A new flag flies after being installed by Frank, the one at the top of the ladder.

Each month, CARHA members donate their time to help keep the site clean.  We have been doing this since 1979. We have several folks who have donated money to assist, from states as varied as Indiana, Michigan and California. Their help is greatly appreciated, as this is the only help we get. A bench has been placed in the Cemetery in honor of those who have helped.

We have received an award for keeping the area looking good, as well as a recent award from the Tennessee Historical Commission for our preservation efforts at the Cemetery.
