Saturday
Saturday was cold, wet and windy. Thank goodness for clearance racks at Walmart!
The lousy weather didn't deter Randy, who dug another US 6-pounder Solid Shot.
Robert followed up half an hour later with another US 6-pounder Solid Shot.
Kevin found a US 6-pounder Solid Shot in the next search grid. Charlie then dug one and then
Kevin found another one. Yes, I too am using a Fisher. Thanks Phil for loaning it to me!
Five US 6-pounder Solid Shots were found that day, with little else besides a few cannister balls. On Tuesday, we worked that same field in the opposite direction and only produced two more cannister balls. You can bet that between this grid and the location of the cannons, there will be a bunch of Mexican items.
Saturday night, Rolando invited us over for a cookout. Robert helped with the grilling.
Don and Carol got a good laugh about something. This is what parties are for!
Most of us hung out inside, where it was warm and the food was!
Sunday
Sunday was another miserable day, as we checked out Resaca Dela Palma. One fired musket ball and one square nail was all that we found.
After lunch, Kevin cheated and went back to the Hotel so he could watch the Daytona 500. He wanted to see
the car run that the company where he works, McKee Foods Corporation, is sponsoring. Ninth place wasn't to bad!
Last year Kevin took a load of Little Debbie Snack Cakes with them on the dig since he and Randy drove down. Couldn't do that this year since he flew down.
Monday
On Monday, Randy found this Mexican button.
Kevin found this button, which in his experience has been found at many American home sites and towns.
Randy found yet another 6-pounder solid shot, just don't have any photos of that one or the one that Rolando found, for a total of eight US 6-pounder Solid Shots.
Monday evening Don and Carol treated us to pizza and beer. Thanks Don!
Robert's family was able to join us as well.
All that attended ate their fill. Thanks again Don and Carol for being so kind.
Tuesday we finished out a couple of areas that we had started and recrossed the "cannon ball" field. Didn't add much to what we had found.
This was the crew at lunch time on Tuesday. We headed for the hotel to get cleaned up and then went south to Mexico.
